Nursing Beyond the Vital Signs

Nursing is so much more than simply popping a thermometer in a patient's mouth or recording a blood pressure. In my time as a nurse, I have participated in life saving efforts when time was critical, I have held a mother's hands when her newborn baby was being prepped for surgery, and I have looked into the terrified eyes of an elderly person in pain. Nurses literally go into battle, serving in military operations all over the world. They also learn and implement the latest in medical technology. This blog is to highlight nurses and prove that they deserve respect and appreciation for all that they do.

3 Excellent Foods To Eat After Your Wisdom Teeth Removal

When you get your wisdom teeth removed, your mouth is going to feel very sore and tender. Because of this, it is important that you only eat certain foods that require very little chewing. You instead need foods allow you to simply swallow them right away, or foods that you can gently chew with the front of your mouth. This article will discuss 3 excellent foods that you can eat with ease after you have had your wisdom teeth removed.

Soup

Creamy soups, such a tomato soup, are excellent because you can swallow the liquid without any chewing at all. Soups with small noodles that can be swallowed whole are also an excellent option, and they won't harm your wisdom teeth stitches or pockets as well. However, if there is another type of soup that you enjoy but the noodles, vegetables, or other ingredients in the soup are too large, you always have the option of sticking the soup in the blender and breaking down the ingredients into a puree that you can swallow with ease and enjoy.

Hot Cereal

Hot cereal is a great breakfast option after you have had your wisdom teeth removed, because it is not only easy to swallow, but it is very filling as well. You can choose from grits, cream of wheat, or oatmeal. To make the hot cereals a bit more easy to swallow, you can easily add more milk to them than usual, making them more of a drink than a cereal. To make the cereals taste great you can add white or brown sugar, butter, jam or jelly, cinnamon, maple syrup, honey, and more. These extra ingredients really help you to not only get full, but to really enjoy your meal when you have such limited options.

Smoothies and Shakes

The great thing about smoothies and shakes is that you can easily throw them together using ingredients that you enjoy. To make a smoothie, you can use your favorite yogurt as a base, and then add some milk, your favorite fruits, and a small amount of ice if you want it extra cold. For shakes you will use ice cream as your base, milk, and then any mix-ins that you would like, including fruits, peanut butter, cookies, candy, etc. These pieces are all broken down incredibly small in the blender, making them easy to swallow. Once again the amount of milk that you add to your smoothie or your shake is going to determine how thick it is, and whether you can simply drink it or if you'll need to use a spoon.
